Any arcade operator knows: a claw machine earns money not from the joystick, but from how badly players want the prize. A weak prize mix keeps the machine empty no matter how you tune the grip strength. Here is which claw machine prize toys actually work, and how to order a batch without mistakes.
What a good prize toy looks like
- Size 10–20 cm. The claw is built for compact prizes: anything bigger slips out, anything smaller is awkward to grab.
- A shape the claw can grip. Round or teardrop bodies with protruding paws or ears give the claw more catch points than smooth spheres.
- Bright colors, readable character. The prize must shout from the machine window; pastel tones and fine details do not register from a distance.
- Durable details. Eyes, noses and seams must survive both the claw and the child — a detached part is a complaint, not a win.
- Low unit cost. The machine economy works when the prize cost is a fraction of the tokens players spend to win it.
Which categories win
- Animals: bears, cats, capybaras, bunnies — universal classics that work in any city.
- Food and desserts: buns, fruits, avocados — bright, unusual, social-media friendly.
- Mini formats and keychains: for small-prize machines and counter displays.
- Seasonal series: New Year, zodiac animal, back-to-school — a reason to refresh the mix and bring players back.
A note on licensed characters. Prize toys carrying third-party trademarks without a license are a risk: claims, seizure of stock and fines, especially during inspections. Original, unbranded characters are safer for your business. The factory can develop a design from your sketch — then the prize mix belongs to you alone.
Ready-stock wholesale vs a factory batch: honest comparison
| Criterion | Ready-stock wholesale | Factory batch |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum order | 50–100 pcs | 500 pcs per design |
| Delivery time | immediately from stock | 25–50 days production + shipping |
| Unit price | higher, with middleman markup | from 4.0 USD on large runs |
| Uniqueness | same assortment as everyone else | your own design, your own prize brand |
| Certificates | not always available | EN71 / CE / EAC / ASTM |
To be direct: if you need prizes tomorrow, buy ready-stock. The factory route is for operators who plan 1–2 months ahead and want a cheaper prize mix that competitors cannot copy.
Order economics
- Unit price depends on volume and complexity. Ballpark: 4.0–5.9 USD on large runs, 5.5–7.8 and 7.9–10.5 USD for small batches and complex designs. Exact tiers are on the pricing page.
- Minimum order: 500 pcs per design. For an arcade chain, that is a season of prizes for 2–3 machines.
- Sample before the run: 500–1,000 yuan per sample; the cost is credited toward an order of 500+ pcs. This lets you check shape, color and seam quality before the full run.

Certificates: you cannot sell without them
Toys sold in Russia and Kazakhstan fall under TR CU 008/2011 “On Safety of Toys”: prizes need conformity documents (certificate or declaration). Prizes without documents are a liability at any inspection. The factory works with EN71, CE, EAC, ASTM F963, ISO 9001 and BSCI certification systems and prepares documents for customs and marketplaces. Details on the quality control page.
Logistics from China
Batches travel the overland route through Khorgos (the China–Kazakhstan crossing): rail or truck, with door-to-door DDP options. This is the same route that carries most of the toy volume for Russia and Central Asia markets.
Plush for vending and prize machines: what fits and what does not
This guide is often found together with searches like “toys for vending machines”, so here is an honest boundary.
Capsule vending machines run on small plastic fillers in 28-100 mm capsules. That is not our specialty: we manufacture custom plush toys and do not produce capsule goods – those come from specialized vending suppliers.
Prize and crane machines (claw machines, prize dispensers) are exactly our profile: a 10-20 cm plush toy as the prize. Batches start at 500 pieces, a children’s toy safety certificate is mandatory for retail in the EAEU, and delivery goes overland via Khorgos (rail or truck, DDP possible).
If you operate a mixed fleet (capsules plus claws), split the sourcing: capsule fillers from vending suppliers, prize plush as a factory batch. The order economics for plush prizes are covered in the section above.
