Step 1. Define the brief before you inquire
The sharper the input, the sharper the quote. Fix the purpose (prizes, resale, gifts), size, approximate volume, and the date the batch must be on site. One design is one line in the quote: two designs at 500 pcs each count as two batches — and that is a normal way to test demand.
Step 2. RFQ and quote

Step 3. Sample before the run
A sample costs 500–1,000 yuan; on an order of 500+ pcs the cost is credited to the batch. Check the shape, color, seams and attached parts on the sample. Simple rule: whatever you dislike on the sample gets worse in the full run, never better.
Step 4. Production: 25–50 days
Once the sample is approved, the batch goes into production; the lead time depends on design complexity and volume. Build in a buffer: seasonal buys (New Year, zodiac animal) should close 1.5–2 months before selling starts.
Step 5. Certificates
Toys sold in EAEU markets (Russia, Kazakhstan) fall under TR CU 008/2011 “On safety of toys”: a certificate or declaration of conformity is required. Request the documents before shipment and verify them yourself: registry number, validity, applicant. Step 6. Logistics and customs
The main overland route is Khorgos (China–Kazakhstan crossing): rail or truck, with DDP format available — customs cleared and delivered to your door. The HS code for toys is 9503 00. Step 7. Receiving and reorders
On arrival, check quantities per design, open random cartons, inspect seams and hardware. If the batch sells well, a reorder of the same design moves faster: the sampling stage is already done — confirm the terms when you order.
