Plush Toys Wholesale from China: Customs & Logistics Guide

Sourcing plush toys in China is only half the job. The other half is getting the batch across the border: clearance, certificates, routes. This guide breaks down plush toy imports from China for buyers in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Russia.

Who clears the cargo: DDP or your own broker

Two basic models:

  • DDP (door-to-door). The factory or its agent handles shipping, customs clearance and duties. You receive the batch at your warehouse. A good option for a first order: fewer risks, clear total price.
  • Your own customs broker. You hire the broker and carrier yourself. Cheaper at volume and gives document control, but requires experience.

Critical for EAEU countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan): toys are subject to mandatory certification under TR CU 008/2011 «On the safety of toys». Without an EAC certificate the cargo will not clear customs. Confirm certificates with the manufacturer before ordering — our production is certified for the EAEU, EU (EN71/CE) and US (ASTM F963), plus ISO 9001 and BSCI.

Delivery routes from China

Destination Main route Notes
Kazakhstan Khorgos The main regional hub: truck, rail, air; onward transit across Central Asia
Kyrgyzstan Torugart and Irkeshtam Direct crossings north (Bishkek) and south (Osh); alternative via Khorgos
Uzbekistan / Tajikistan Combined via KZ/KG Consolidated trucks cut per-unit cost on 500–3000 pc batches

For Russia, route (rail, truck or sea) and transit time are calculated per batch volume.

Documents and packaging

  • Invoice, packing list and contract — the base set for any broker.
  • EAEU certificate (TR CU 008/2011) and EAC marking on the product.
  • HS code for plush toys is 9503 00; duties are assessed against it.
  • Packaging: sturdy master cartons; the carrier calculates volume and weight from them.

What a wholesale batch costs

Base production prices per piece, by size and complexity:

  • Small to medium designs: $4.0–5.9
  • Medium to large: $5.5–7.8
  • Large and detailed: $7.9–10.5

Minimum order is 500 pieces per design. A sample costs 500–1,000 yuan; with an order of 500+ pieces the amount is fully credited against the batch. Production takes 25–50 days depending on complexity. See the pricing page and the manufacturer selection guide.

Pre-order checklist

  1. Request certificates (EAEU/EN71) before payment.
  2. Approve the sample before launching mass production.
  3. Fix packaging and marking requirements in the spec sheet.
  4. Put production deadlines and penalties into the contract.
  5. Choose the route and carrier before production starts.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import a batch without a certificate? No. Toys are mandatory-certification goods in the EAEU; without one the cargo is not released.

Full truck or consolidated cargo? Batches of 500–3000 pieces usually travel cheaper consolidated; a full truck fits larger volumes or multi-design loads.

Who pays duties under DDP? They are included in the total price and handled by the supplier.
