Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are different markets with different rules, but they share one sourcing logic: China remains the main source of plush toys, and import success comes down to three things — certification, route and supplier. This material compares all five countries: what they have in common and where the national differences begin that first shipments stumble over.
What the five markets share
China is the main production source for the whole region. Factory pricing on a direct order — $7.9–10.5 per piece from 500 pcs, $5.5–7.8 from 1,000 pcs and $4.0–5.9 from 5,000+ — versus the margin added by every tier of an intermediary chain. That is why retail and wholesale businesses across all five countries increasingly go direct to factories.
The uniqueness trend is visible in every country: retail and corporate buyers increasingly order their own designs — mascots, souvenirs, toys with a national flavor — rather than “the model everyone has.” Custom production from 500 pcs, 25–50 days, a ¥500–2000 sample credited to the first order.
Logistics is built around land crossings with China and transit through neighbors: air freight is used only for urgent small batches and samples. Hence the main planning rule — choose the route not by the map but by the supplier’s shipment experience with the specific country.
EAEU (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan): unified rules
Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan belong to the Eurasian Economic Union, so toys fall under the unified TR CU 008/2011 “On the Safety of Toys” regulation. What this gives the importer:
- One document set works in both countries: the certificate or declaration is issued by the importer through an accredited body, and the factory provides samples and technical documentation for testing in advance.
- Labeling follows unified requirements — composition, age grading, importer details. One batch can legally sell in two markets, with labeling built into production.
- Proven routes: for Kazakhstan the main hub is Khorgos; for Kyrgyzstan the direct crossings Torugart and Irkeshtam, or transit via Khorgos. Clearance practice at the crossing is covered in the Kazakhstan import guide.
Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan: national regimes
The region’s three non-EAEU countries apply their own national standards and certification procedures instead of the union regulation. The document set is assembled for the specific destination country — factor extra paperwork time into your batch planning.
In practice, batches often move on combined routes with transit through Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan and re-papering for the destination country’s national requirements. Uzbekistan is the largest market by population: Tashkent retail and marketplaces keep growing, and demand for soft toys rises year over year.
Key delivery routes
| Destination | Main route | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Kazakhstan | Khorgos (China–Kazakhstan) | The region’s main hub: truck, rail, air; transit onward across Central Asia |
| Kyrgyzstan | Torugart and Irkeshtam | Direct crossings: north (Bishkek) and south (Osh); alternative — transit via Khorgos |
| Uzbekistan | Combined via Kazakhstan/Kyrgyzstan | Consolidated trucks cut per-unit cost on 500–3000 pc batches |
| Tajikistan | Combined via neighbors | Route and timeline calculated per batch |
| Turkmenistan | Combined via neighbors | National clearance regime; calculated per batch |

How to choose a supplier for the region
- Shipment experience with the specific country. A supplier who has already delivered to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan knows where delays appear on the route and which documents are asked for at re-papering.
- Documents for your regime. For EAEU — working with TR CU 008/2011 (samples and technical documentation for certification in advance); for national markets — readiness to assemble the document set for the destination country.
- A sample before the batch. A pre-production sample with approved materials and details is a mandatory stage; ours costs ¥500–2000 and is credited to the first order of 500+ pcs.
- A contract with deadlines. Production of 25–50 days is fixed by contract with liability for missing it; payment is staged.
